City of Orange staffers have found an easy way to pare $50,000 off the city’s annual budget — by switching to cheaper gasoline.

Following recent renovations to the Villa Park Library and city offices, council members voted on March 24 to remodel the City Council Chambers so that the room would appeal to more local groups and clubs as a community space.

The Orange Unified School District’s Legislative Coalition will host a forum with proponents and opponents of the May 19 ballot measure, including a representative of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at OUSD Board Rooms 1-3, 1401 N. Handy St., Orange. Free and open to the public.

Carolyn Cavecche, mayor of Orange, came in third, with 14 trips requiring air travel and expenses of $13,997. She too went on rating agency trips to New York and advocacy trips to Washington D.C., as well as many zips up to Sacramento for hearings and meetings with legislators.
